The obverse of a coin. Opposite of 'reverse'. The obverse of a coin may be identified by viewer convention, i.e. what commonly
is expected to appear as a motif (portraits, bust) in contrast e.g. to coat of arms, denominational value for the reverse).
From a technical perspective the obverse is identified as having been struck by the bottom resp. lower (also called anvil)
die.
