A Byzantine denomination of electrum of the reform of Alexios I Komnenos (r. 1081-1118), concave. Its value is ca. 8 carats,
1/3 of Hyperpyron, but it will debase in time, to 5 and 2.5 carats, with hardly any gold recorded for Alexios III (r. 1195-1203),
the last emperor to issue this denomination. It was also produced during the divided empire in Nicaea, Epirus, Thessalonica,
Serbia.
